Overview

Design and develop the electrical/electronic components and systems for Andis products including clippers, trimmers, and styling tools. Hands on engineer that enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Upholds Andis Core Values of Excellence, Integrity, and Respect in all work activities.
  • Leads technical investigation projects to deliver innovative product designs to the New Product Development Team that meet all safety, quality and functional requirements.
  • Evaluate how the customer uses the product to identify and propose innovative solutions that will relieve the customers pain points.
  • Evaluate products that use similar technologies to Andis products as benchmarks to determine innovative features that could be incorporated into future Andis products.
  • Analyze proposed product concepts to determine the feasibility of product proposals.
  • Lead innovative design projects to improve the performance of the electronic systems across Andis product lines.
  • Track assigned deliverables to ensure adherence to overall project schedules.
  • Ability and drive to determine root cause failures of PCBA’s and electrical/ electronic systems.
  • Design, implement, maintain, and improve the electrical/electronic systems, components, products, and systems for International and North American Markets from prototype to mass production including:
  • System/Architecture design
  • Electronic circuit schematic design
  • Electronic circuit simulation
  • Component/Part selection
    • PCB layouts
    • Prototyping and modeling
    • Microcontroller firmware
    • Electronic testing and design verification
  • Prepare design modifications as required based on input from the multi-functional team.
  • Mentor and coach less experienced team members and new team members.
  • Assist Andis Supply Chain to prepare budgetary cost estimates for new electrical/ electronic designs.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering, design software to perform electrical and electronic engineering and design tasks.
  • Effectively communicate and oversee projects goals and deliverables with outside suppliers.

Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in a related field from four-year college or university and minimum of 5 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of production and manufacturing processes; application of engineering science and technology; and design techniques.

 

Ability to work with computers at an expert level.  A working proficiency in Microsoft Word, MS Excel and Electronic design software.  Knowledge and experience using an ERP system and Solidworks helpful.
